Innovative, Inclusive AI for the Pacific: Transforming Governance and Empowering Communities
February 5, 2025On Thursday, 29 May 2025, we witnessed a pivotal moment in Fiji’s journey towards accessible and inclusive digital public services.
We are proud to announce the official kick-off of the Fiji Police Clearance System Digitisation Project, a landmark initiative led by the Fiji Police Force with support from the Pacific Digital Economy Programme, a joint programme implemented by the United Nations Capital Development Fund, the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
The presence of UNCDF’s Regional Investment Lead for Asia and the Pacific reminded us that this initiative is more than national, it is regional, it is human, and it is visionary.
This project is a people-first technological transformation. It aims to ease the burden on citizens, increase transparency, and ensure that no one is left behind, whether you’re applying from a remote village or the heart of Suva.
At Webmedia South Pacific, we are honoured to be entrusted with the implementation of this solution. We approach this task with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to:
- Designing a platform that is secure, scalable, and simple to use.
- Supporting the Fiji Police Force with digital tools that enhance operational efficiency.
- Embedding digital payment integration, identity verification, and data privacy at every level.
- Ensuring the system is inclusive, culturally aligned, and accessible even to the most remote communities.
With deep gratitude, we thank the Fiji Police Force, UNCDF, UNDP, UNCTAD and all involved for the collective wisdom shared during the kick-off.
As the system begins its journey from design to reality, we will continue to listen, collaborate, and align with national digital transformation goals and global development standards.
This upgrade is a step forward for public trust, accessibility, and digital inclusion.
Vinaka Vakalevu to the teams from FPF, UNCDF, UNDP, UNCTAD and all those who have placed their trust in us. We look forward to building this platform with purpose and pride.
In the end, technology is not just a tool, it is a bridge. A bridge between systems and citizens, between intention and action, between the present and the possible
